One question we get all the time is, “Where can I find opportunities?” Well, there is a short answer and a long answer, much like any other question in the government contracting space. Ideally, you want to be reviewing procurement forecasts and networking to add to your pipeline.

However, sometimes it makes sense to focus on those entities that are actively purchasing your products and/or services. There are hundreds, if not thousands of options out there. This blog will review our favorite no or low-cost options to get you started.

City, State, Local, Federal: APEX Accelerators (formerly PTAC)

PTAC stands for Procurement Technical Assistance Center. Earlier this year, the Department of Defense (DOD) rebranded all 97 centers to “APEX Accelerators”. They are a grant-funded organization, many of which provide free counseling, bid-matching, as well as Govology access to their clients. There is no size standard to seek services from APEX, so small and large businesses are welcomed.

The bid-matching service is free to clients for almost all locations. The only frustration we’ve found is that some cities and localities use third-party services to host their solicitations. You can’t help but hit a paywall every now and then.

The steps to evaluate this as an option are as follows:

  1. Find the center nearest you here.
  2. Sign up on their website for “counseling services”.
  3. During your first meeting, as your assigned Procurement Counselor about Bid-Matching
