After record-breaking attendance at the 2022 Symposium in Orlando, the 2023 Symposium in San Diego promises to be an even better event! The Maintenance Symposium is the only official DoD event conducted by the Office of the Secretary of Defense that is entirely focused on the maintenance of weapon systems and equipment. The Symposium is the premier forum for the exchange of ideas from the greatest maintenance and logistics minds in the country as they discuss the pacing national security threats to the sustainment enterprise.
The geopolitical environment continues to evolve, but it has never been more clear that the United States must take immediate and deliberate actions to maintain global peace and prosperity. The National Defense Strategy (NDS) states that “we are living in a “decisive decade,” one stamped by dynamic changes in geopolitics, technology, economics, and our environment.” The central charge of the NDS is Integrated Deterrence with the development, combination, and coordination of our strengths to maximum effect. Integrated Deterrence will be most effective only if we collectively build and sustain a resilient joint force and defense ecosystem that prevails within contested environments. These NDS mandates serve as a call to action for the sustainment community, and the Maintenance Symposium is where you have an obligation to answer that call.
Over 2,000 maintainers from military, government, industry, and academia are expected to converge at the Symposium in San Diego in 2023. The foremost leading experts from across the sustainment enterprise are anxious to share their ideas and strategic visions. This year’s agenda will focus on integrated sustainment in a contested environment by exploring agile combat sustainment, the organic and commercial industrial bases, resilient software capabilities, data analytics, artificial intelligence, maintenance manpower, and much more.
